Presidents of the European Council Charles Michel and the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen say that Russian President Vladimir Putin's recognition of the so-called "Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics" is a violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the Minsk agreements.
They wrote this on their Twitter page.
"The recognition of the two separatist territories in Ukraine is a blatant violation of international law, the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the Minsk agreements. The EU and its partners will respond with unity, firmness and determination in solidarity with Ukrainian President Zelensky," the notes read.
Furthermore, von der Leyen added that "the EU and its partners will respond with unity, firmness and determination as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine."
