Investigation of “intentional murder”: a man died after visiting the TCC in Zhytomyr region

Law enforcement agencies launched an investigation into the death of 32-year-old Serhiy Kovalchuk after he visited the Zvyagel RTCC. The man was taken to the hospital after suffering an epileptic seizure, but died a few days later.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that proceedings over the death of the conscript were initiated under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - “intentional murder”.

The Zhytomyr Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office provides procedural guidance in this criminal proceeding, and the Zvyagel District Police Department of the Zhytomyr Region National Police is conducting a pre-trial investigation to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier, we reported that the Zhytomyr TCC stated that the man who was brought to undergo the MMC died as a result of “self-mutilation” after an epileptic seizure, and not from being beaten by the military.
