Lithuanian authorities have supported the idea of returning men of military age to Ukraine. The country's president and prime minister spoke in favor of this idea during a discussion on LRT radio.
President Gitanas Nausėda said that Ukraine should have the means and tools to "invite its young men to serve their country."
"We must cooperate with Ukraine in every sense," he said.
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė allowed actions by Lithuania to help Ukraine return the men.
"We could probably look for some ways to make sure that a person has fulfilled their mobilization obligation or is exempt from it when we consider extending a residence permit," she said.
She added that these measures should also be discussed at the EU level.
