Lithuania demonstrates combat power: first test launch of missiles from HIMARS

Lithuania plans to conduct exercises during which missiles from HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems will be launched for the first time to deter Russia from its aggressive actions. This was announced by Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas in the LRT publication.

He noted that this step is a positive signal and shows that inaction is not an effective way to de-escalate the conflict. Instead, actions can be perceived as an opportunity to act.

It is noted that several HIMARS missiles will be launched from the test site in Kairiai to a distance of 10 kilometers into the sea.

The Minister emphasized that this is an important step that demonstrates the combat readiness of Lithuania and NATO. This will also be the first time Lithuania will perform such exercises in the Baltic Sea using a multiple launch rocket system.

Kasčiūnas noted that the decision to use HIMARS was made recently and became part of previously planned exercises. This innovation is a clear signal.
