Conscript soldier detained for cooperation with Russia: he adjusted missile strikes and tried to switch to the Russian side

The SBU detained a conscript soldier of the Defense Forces for cooperation with Russia. This was reported by the press service of the department.

It is alleged that he was recruited by the FSB and adjusted missile strikes on the Kharkiv region. In addition, he wanted to move to the territory controlled by Russia.

The soldier was detained in the Kupyansk direction near the contact line when he tried to reach Russian positions.

"He was supposed to be met by Russian military with insignia in the form of a St. George's ribbon on his sleeve. The occupiers planned to take the informant to the FSB 'branch' in the temporarily occupied part of the territory in Luhansk region. In this way, they would have completed his "evacuation"," the statement said.

The SBU claims that the man was encouraged to cooperate with Russia by his parents, who live in Russian-controlled territory in the east of Ukraine and are in the field of view of the Russian special service.

"Because of them, the occupiers "agreed" with the conscript to transfer the coordinates of potential targets and offered him a plan for further escape after "demobilization," the SBU said.

The man was detained. He is in custody. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
