NBU prohibits banks and pawnshops from accepting drones and dual-use goods as collateral

The National Bank has prohibited banks and non-bank financial institutions from accepting drones, thermal imagers and other similar dual-use goods as collateral for loans to individuals. This was reported by the NBU press service.

The ban will be introduced on May 4, 2024, to implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to counteract the negative effects of online gambling.

The full list of dual-use goods is published in the appendix to the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 86 of January 28, 2004.

It is worth noting that earlier, foreign and Ukrainian media published a lot of material about the epidemic of gambling addiction among the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It got to the point where the military, having lost all their money, went to pawn military equipment. This issue went public, and Zelensky issued a decree restricting online gambling.
