The Verkhovna Rada approved the fuel excise tax increase in the first reading. The MPs managed to pass this decision only after the third attempt, when only the alternative draft law No. 11256-2 received the required number of votes - 227, which is one vote more than the minimum required number.
National Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko claims that the initiative was “slipped through” in violation of procedures. However, the draft law No. 11256-2 differs from the alternative versions, No. 11256 and No. 11256-1, which had fewer votes - 212 and 218, respectively.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak explained that the Rada still supported in the first reading the alternative draft law No. 11256-2 on increasing the excise tax on fuel, which received the required number of votes - 227.
MP Honcharenko said that the draft law was adopted in the first reading in violation of the procedures by the Servant of the People MPs and former members of the OPFL faction.
