European Parliament approves agreement on imports of products from Ukraine with new restrictions

The European Parliament has confirmed the agreement on food imports from Ukraine for another year, but introduced restrictions on the level of imports to resolve protests in EU countries.

According to Reuters, the decision was supported by 428 votes, 131 against and 44 abstentions. The new restrictions will take effect on June 6.

However, these restrictions mean that Ukraine will receive 331 million euros less from exports to the EU than last year.

The new restrictions, proposed after farmers' protests, include tariffs on poultry, eggs, sugar, oats, cereals, corn, and honey.

It is noted that this will be the last revision of this agreement. The EU and Ukraine plan to conclude a long-term agreement in June 2025.
