A system for compensation for damages caused by the war in Ukraine has been launched in The Hague. Ukrainians can file claims, CNN reports.
"Ukrainians can file claims for damages to their property caused by the Russian invasion through a new mechanism launched Tuesday, with government officials expecting up to 10 million requests in total," CNN writes.
For now, the main focus will be on those claims that relate to damage or destruction of residential property during the war. It is expected that this category will receive between 300,000 and 600,000 applications in total.
In addition, Ukrainians can submit claims to the international register of losses through the Diia app. This was announced by Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
"We are launching a new important service. The data from the International Register will be the basis for future reparations. Diia is becoming an important part of transferring and displaying the scale of damage caused by Russian aggression," said Fedorov.
