The state budget of Ukraine received $118 million in non-refundable loans from the Government of Japan. The funds were provided within the framework of the World Bank's Health and Life Assurance for Ukraine (HEAL Ukraine) and Housing and Opportunities for People's Empowerment (HOPE) projects. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
According to the press service, the funds under the HEAL and HOPE projects will help the government expand the range of medical services and access to them, as well as ensure overcoming the consequences caused by Russia's armed aggression and rebuilding Ukraine's housing infrastructure.
The grant funding from the Government of Japan consists of:
- USD 70 million under the World Bank's HEAL Ukraine project to support the state budget as a reimbursement of expenses incurred under the medical guarantee program.
- USD 48.2 million under the World Bank's Housing Opportunities for People's Empowerment (HOPE) project. Funds under the project are used to reimburse state budget expenditures used for compensation payments to homeowners for repairs in apartment and private houses that require minor and medium repairs.
