The Ministry of Finance is waiting for proposals from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff to cover the costs of additional mobilization. This was stated by Minister Serhiy Marchenko during the Forbes YouTube project "Business Breakfeast".
"I would give the General Staff, together with the Ministry of Defense, the opportunity to find approaches to this issue and propose solutions as to how they see the optimization of expenditures... Because I have already pointed out several times that we have exhausted our internal potential for financing military needs, and it will not work to simply artificially increase the amount, so to speak," the minister said.
Marchenko pointed out that it is necessary to look for optimal solutions to optimize expenditures in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. He emphasized that artificially increasing funding will not solve the problem, as internal reserves have already been exhausted.
The Minister expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Finance to wait for information on the scale of mobilization, timing and required expenditures.
He confirmed that the previously announced UAH 500 billion for financing (taking into account 500,000 conscripts) is considered acceptable, but acknowledged the importance of taking into account various factors, such as the terms of mobilization and demobilization and the provision of military units.
Marchenko also did not rule out the need to find additional domestic sources of funding, but confidently stated that no additional funds are expected for the first quarter.
