Polish Sejm supports sanctions against agricultural products from Russia and Belarus

The Polish Sejm has supported a resolution on sanctions against agricultural products from Russia and Belarus, as it brings huge revenues to producers, traders and budgets of these countries. This is reported by Polskie Radio.

According to the publication, the Lower House of the Polish Parliament called on the European Commission to impose sanctions on imports of Russian and Belarusian food and agricultural products to the European Union (EU).

The resolution was supported by 441 members of the Polish Sejm, with two abstentions.

"The resolution meets the needs of Polish and European farmers, is the voice of the Polish parliament, and at the same time strengthens the position of the Polish government in negotiations with the European Union. The document calls on the European Union to return to the rules that were in force in trade with Ukraine and other non-EU countries before the war, which meets the basic requirements of Polish farmers," said MP Marta Wcisło.

Another MP, Witold Tumanowicz, emphasized the importance of banning trade in Russian agricultural products, as Russian imports may contain grain stolen by the enemy from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
