Poland plans to impose an embargo on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus, - Tusk

Poland will work on an embargo on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after a meeting with Polish farmers on February 29, Radio Liberty reports.

The meeting lasted about four hours. Tusk noted that the parties discussed the proposals of the protesters near the border with Ukraine, which he called reasoned. However, some of them concern changes in the EU's agricultural policy.

The prime minister also noted that Polish farmers who grow raspberries in the Lublin Voivodeship have difficulties due to competition with Ukraine. However, he emphasized that Warsaw will continue to help Ukraine, and this idea was supported by all the participants of the meeting.

Tusk announced plans to impose an embargo on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus, emphasizing that such actions are necessary in the context of military events and the unfairness of the situation when products from these countries enter Europe without restrictions.

Tusk also supported the farmers' demand for EU funding for grain transportation to countries in need.

He also discussed the possible closure of the border with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, noting that this decision will be made only if the EU did not respond to Poland's demands.
