President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has set up a competitive commission to select candidates for the post of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine under the quota of the President. The relevant decree No. 139/2024 of February 29 was published on the President's website.
The decree states that the decision was made to ensure the competitive selection of candidates for the post of a judge of the Constitutional Court in respect of persons appointed by the President in accordance with Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine and the implementation of the Law "On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine".
The Head of State approved the Regulation on the competitive selection and formed the relevant commission for its implementation.
The task of the commission is to organize and conduct the selection of candidates for the post of a judge of the Constitutional Court under the presidential quota.
The document comes into force on the day of its publication.
The commission consists of the following persons:
- Dean of the Law Faculty of Uzhhorod National University, Doctor of Law, Professor Yaroslav Lazur;
- Head of the Department of Constitutional Law of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Doctor of Law, Professor Olha Lotiuk;
- Director of the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor Oleksandr Skrypniuk;
- Head of the Department of Constitutional Law of Ukraine at Yaroslav the Wise National Law University, Candidate of Law, Professor Tetiana Slinko;
- Doctor of Law, Professor, Judge of the Federal Court of Claims of the United States of America Bohdan Futei.
