Syrskyi: Reserves will be deployed to defend Avdiivka and Kupyansk

Reserves will be used to defend Avdiivka and Kupyansk. Troops and forces will also be regrouped in these areas to stop the enemy's offensive. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The corresponding decision was made after the visit of the new commander-in-chief and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to the Avdiivka and Kupyansk directions.

Syrskyi noted that to reduce the offensive potential of the Russians, Ukrainian troops will be regrouped and reserves will be deployed.

"Based on the results of the work, I made operational decisions to engage reserves, combat systems, fire support and regroup troops and forces in these directions, as well as to localize enemy forces to reduce its offensive potential," he said.

Syrskyi also discussed with the commanders the issue of combat support for the units.

"Given the rapid change in the situation on the battlefield, I delegated to the commanders the authority to make appropriate urgent decisions to save the lives of the personnel," Syrskyi said.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the Russians in the Avdiivka and Kupyansk directions "are stepping up their efforts, throwing dozens and hundreds of soldiers into 'meat assaults' and shelling the frontline territories." In the Avdiivka direction alone, Ukrainian defenders repelled 29 attacks by Russian troops over the past day.
