Tax data of Ukrainians will be stored in Poland: Hetmantsev explained the reason

Tax data of Ukrainians will now be stored in Poland. This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 19, 2024.

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to conclude an agreement between the State Tax Service and a Polish government agency on the temporary placement of the State Tax Service's information resources in Poland.

The government protocol states: "To agree with the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service to conclude an agreement between the State Tax Service and an institution designated by the Government of the Republic of Poland for the period of martial law in Ukraine on the provision of services for the temporary placement of state information resources of the State Tax Service in a mobile data center located in the territory of the Republic of Poland."

Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada's Tax Committee, told EP that it is only about storing copies of Ukrainian tax data in Poland, not about completely transferring the STS databases to Poland.

"We were working on the relevant decision in the spring of 2022. Then the work slowed down a bit, but now it has been finalized into a final decision," Hetmantsev explained.

He added that the decision was made for security reasons. At the same time, it is not related to the state's intentions to store the data of the conscript register on the territory of one of the NATO countries.
