The recently agreed 50 billion euros in aid to Ukraine from the European Union is insufficient. It will not cover the country's needs until 2027. This was stated by Johan Van Overtveldt, Chairman of the European Parliament's Budget Committee, in The Guardian.
According to Van Overtveldt, Ukraine's non-military needs are estimated at €3 billion per month, which means that the country needs €36 billion annually.
However, according to the chairman of the European Parliament's budget committee, the EU has allocated only €50 billion for Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027.
"On average, Ukraine will have access to €12.5 billion a year. As agreed between the EU and the USA, each of them will cover half of Ukraine's needs, i.e. 18 billion euros each for the EU and the USA. Thus, the Ukraine Facility (a program under which Ukraine will receive €50 billion - ed.) will annually receive at least €5.5 billion than the EU's commitments," explained the chairman of the European Parliament's Budget Committee.
At the same time, he clarified that for the entire period until 2027, the deficit will amount to 22 billion euros.
