German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, at the beginning of his trip to Washington, called on allies in Europe and the United States to provide more support to Ukraine. This was reported by RND.
"Now is the moment when we must do what is necessary, namely, to jointly provide Ukraine with the opportunity to defend itself and at the same time send a very clear signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin," he said.
He emphasized that the signal to Putin is that Europe will support Ukraine for a long time.
"The signal is that he cannot expect our support to weaken, but it will last long enough and will be quite large. This message must be conveyed together in the coming days and weeks," Scholz added.
He added that Ukraine is indeed defending itself with everything it has. In order for Kyiv to continue to do so, Scholz said, it needs support.
"And what has been promised so far in Europe and what has also been promised in US Congressional resolutions is still not enough. So we must find a way to do more together," the chancellor said.
He added that Germany "has made a very big contribution".
"But it will not be enough if there is not enough support everywhere," the politician emphasized.
