Vice-President of the European Parliament Jan-Christoph Oetjen has spoken out against Ukraine's rapid accession to the European Union. First, the country needs to fulfill all the requirements for membership. This was stated by the Vice President of the European Parliament in an interview with Nordwest-Zeitung.
According to him, Oetjen supports the idea of expanding the European Union, but he expressed the condition that the candidate countries fulfill all the requirements, in particular, in ensuring the rule of law and fighting corruption.
"Therefore, there can be no quick acceptance of Ukraine," said the Vice President of the European Parliament.
At the same time, he noted that the EU could strengthen cooperation with the country to speed up the process.
