Shelling in Kharkiv and Sumy regions worsened the situation with energy supply: details

The situation with energy supply has worsened in Kharkiv and Sumy regions due to Russian shelling. This was reported by Ukrenergo and the Ministry of Energy.

In the Kharkiv region, one of the facilities of NPC Ukrenergo and several facilities of regional power distribution companies were cut off due to damage to equipment during shelling on Thursday evening and at night, leaving more than 16.5 thousand consumers without power supply, the system operator said.

The shelling also disconnected 110 kV overhead lines, which led to the shutdown of the line and substations of Kharkivoblenergo and Ukrzaliznytsia. As a result, household consumers and local industry were cut off from electricity. The strikes caused a fire in one of the region's districts, leaving household consumers in three settlements without electricity.

In total, about 33,000 customers in the region were cut off from power.

"Massive shelling of the border areas of Sumy region resulted in simultaneous disconnection of more than 40 thousand consumers, and there is damage to Oblenergo's equipment. In the morning, all consumers are being supplied with power via backup schemes," Ukrenergo said in a statement.

The Ministry of Energy added that the site of Sumyoblenergo JSC was shelled, fortunately, there were no casualties.

In total, 358 settlements remain without electricity as of this morning due to hostilities and other reasons.
