The Hungarian government calls on the parliament to ratify Sweden's application for NATO membership as soon as possible. This was announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The Secretary General said he had spoken with Orban. He welcomed the Prime Minister and his government's clear support for Sweden's NATO membership.


"I look forward to the ratification as soon as the parliament meets," Stoltenberg wrote.

The Hungarian Prime Minister said that his government supports Sweden's membership in NATO. 


"I also stressed that we will continue to urge the Hungarian National Assembly to vote in favor of Sweden's accession and to complete the ratification at the first possible opportunity," Orban wrote.
