The European Union can allocate funding to help Ukraine no later than March 2024. European countries are also trying to reduce the financing deficit. This is reported by Euractiv.

It is noted that on February 1, EU leaders will hold a summit to once again agree on the budget and approve a four-year aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.

It is worth noting that in case Hungary blocks the decision again, EU officials have developed an alternative plan worth up to 20 billion euros, using the debt structure, bypassing the opposition of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

In addition, the EU is considering several backup options to secure funding for assistance to Ukraine this year.

According to Euractiv, financial assistance is expected to be provided by the end of March.

"Regardless of the final modalities, the EU has promised Kyiv to provide funding no later than March," the article says.
