As we reported earlier, The Telegraph published an article claiming that a ground offensive by the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region could begin on January 15. On January 5, during a briefing, the head of the Kharkiv RMA Oleh Synegubov commented on this information, according to Suspilne.
The official noted that currently there is no accumulation of enemy troops in the region. The situation at the border has not changed either - it is constantly monitored to be prepared for any development.
"In order to talk about the enemy's plans for an offensive, they have to concentrate units in one direction or another. Currently, there is no such concentration," emphasized Synegubov.
He added that there are no objective reasons to predict an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces in the near future.
"However, this situation can change at any moment," noted Synegubov.
At the same time, the head of the RMA confirmed that the Kremlin has not abandoned its plans for Kharkiv region.
"We understand that the enemy has not abandoned its intentions to recapture the territories it lost during the liberation in autumn of 2022, including the city of Kharkiv, and to occupy it. We must be prepared for this," he said.
Synegubov also warned that, according to intelligence, Russia plans to attack the critical and energy structure of Kharkiv and the region.
"That is why we are holding a meeting of the Defense Council today, where we will consider the readiness of the invincibility points and coordination of all emergency services," the official said.
