The Office of the President has voiced the idea of depriving Ukrainian men abroad of aid and residence permits so that they return to Ukraine to fight. This statement was made by Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, during a telethon.
"We have the right to equalize everyone. They must be equal. However, to achieve this goal, this should be discussed at the level of the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, other ministries, including Foreign Affairs, etc. This should include consultations with the governments of other countries where our men are staying, in terms of whether they can continue to receive temporary residence permits, have certain preferences, and receive assistance. These are ideas," Podolyak said.
He believes that the idea of drafting men from abroad, voiced by Umerov (and later denied by the Ministry), is "correct."
"Still, we need to be conscious, because it looks strange. Someone here must bear some responsibility for what is happening in the country. And someone over there will wait until these people fulfill everything. Then we will come and continue to build Ukraine as if nothing had happened. The minister is absolutely right here," Podolyak said.
