Ukrainian Ministry of Defense denies information about conscription of citizens from abroad

The Ministry of Defense commented on the statement of Minister Rustem Umerov, which was spread by the German media, that Ukrainians will be drafted abroad. The ministry noted that there is no discussion of conscription of men from abroad on the agenda. This was announced by the head of the press and information department of the Ministry of Defense Ilarion Pavliuk, RBC-Ukraine reports.

Pavliuk said that the German media "shifted the emphasis" in the words of Minister Umerov. According to him, the minister "generally told journalists about recruitment and the need to convey to Ukrainians abroad how important it is for them to join the army."

According to him, no discussion of mechanisms of recruitment to the Armed Forces from abroad is on the agenda.

As we reported earlier, Ukrainians liable for military service living abroad may be drafted into the army.
