Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban explained why Hungary did not block the decision to start negotiations with Ukraine on EU accession yesterday. He said this on Kossuth radio, hvg reports.

According to him, Budapest "will have 75 more opportunities to do so."

"The decisive argument was that Hungary has nothing to lose, given that 27 parliaments, including the Hungarian one, have to have the final say on Ukraine's membership. So if we don't want Ukraine to become a member of the EU, the Hungarian parliament will vote against it," Viktor Orban said.

According to him, "until it comes to the parliaments, it will be a long, long process."

"There will be about 75 cases when the Hungarian government will be able to stop this process," the politician said.

As we reported earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban vetoed the allocation of 50 billion euros from the European Union to Ukraine.
