Kyivstar will restore mobile Internet access in the western regions of Ukraine this afternoon. This was announced by the company's president Oleksandr Komarov during a telethon.
"According to our plan, we hoped to start restoring mobile Internet services tonight. However, we hope that this afternoon we will start restoring services from the west of Ukraine. Region by region, we will start restoring mobile Internet services carefully," he said.
According to the company's president, fixed-line Internet services have been fully restored to about 1 million households across Ukraine.
Komarov said that voice communications have been restored by almost 99%.
"Right now we are finishing the last geography - the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kyiv - by connecting them to voice services," he said.
Komarov expressed hope that Kyivstar will be able to restore the three basic services (mobile voice, mobile Internet and SMS) by the end of this week. However, he said, "the level of uncertainty is off the charts."
"Then we will restore all the additional services, and this, from my point of view, will take several weeks. But these are more and more secondary services," the company president added.
