Putin plans to mobilize another 170 thousand people, - UK representative to the UN

Fergus Eckersley, Political Coordinator of the British Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to call up another 170,000 people to fight against Ukraine. This was reported by the British government.

Speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Eckersley said that since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, more than 300 thousand Russian army soldiers have been killed or wounded, which is many times more than in ten years in Afghanistan.

"Now President Putin plans to draft another 170,000 as cannon fodder for his government's war. It is difficult to understand how the continuation of the Russian government's aggression is in the interests of the Russian people," he said.

The British representative urged to continue to provide Ukraine with all the support it needs to defend its sovereign territory.
