Bulgarian President vetoed supply of 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has vetoed the already ratified agreement to supply Ukraine with 100 armored personnel carriers free of charge, local media report.

The document has been returned to parliament for re-discussion.

Radev said that the MPs had not familiarized themselves with the specific parameters of the agreement and could not objectively assess whether Bulgaria itself no longer needed the armored personnel carriers. For example, to fight natural disasters and protect the border.

"I am guided by the belief that the safety, health and lives of Bulgarian citizens should be a top priority," the president said.
