Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Italy will provide Ukraine with the second SAMP/T battery, which is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles, Reuters reports.

“It is known that we will send SAMP/T, which is an air defense and protection tool that Ukraine has asked us to send,” the minister said.

The Foreign Minister did not disclose any further details about the transfer of the SAMP/T air defense system to Ukraine.

It is worth noting that France and Italy handed over the first SAMP/T system to Ukraine back in 2023. This is the only European-made air defense system that can shoot down ballistic missiles. SAMP/T is also capable of detecting dozens of targets and intercepting 10 missiles simultaneously.
