President of the European Council expressed positive attitude towards the December EU summit on Ukraine

President of the European Council Charles Michel is positive about the December EU summit on Ukraine, in particular, the start of accession talks. According to him, European leaders are determined. Michel said this in an interview with France Inter.

"European leaders are determined to support Ukraine, because our democratic model, our fundamental values, which formed the basis of the European project, are at stake," he said.

Michel reminded that in two weeks European leaders will gather for a summit and "will concentrate a lot of efforts on making additional decisions to support Ukraine at the financial and military level, as well as at the political level, and, I hope, the start of accession negotiations."

In addition, the President of the European Council is confident that the EU will fulfill its promise to supply one million artillery shells to Ukraine. But he admits that the plan will not be fulfilled by March 2024.

"It will take a little longer than we would like... A few extra months will certainly be needed," Michel added.
