Ambassador: Protest of Polish carriers is a warning and will not last long

The protest of Polish carriers on the border with Ukraine may be a warning and last only a day, as most of their demands are unrealistic. This was stated by Ambassador of Ukraine Vasyl Zvarych during a single telethon on Friday.

"This is already a small victory, as the protest planned for today was postponed to November 6. There are also signals that it may be a one-day warning strike. So now all efforts are aimed at reaching certain compromises and explaining that the vast majority of the demands are unrealistic," the ambassador said.

For example, Polish carriers are dissatisfied with the cancellation of the permit system for Ukrainian truckers as part of the transport visa-free. But this is an agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, and Polish carriers also do not need permits for transportation within the EU.

"Their other demand has a certain discriminatory dimension, as they demand preferences when crossing the border using Polish or European license plates. And the transportation is carried out by representatives of other countries, such as Turkey. Therefore, we cannot meet these demands, we will try to convince them that such methods of blocking the border are counterproductive," he said.

According to Zvarych, the Polish authorities also understand this and are trying to convince the strikers not to interfere with the border traffic.

"We believe that common sense will prevail, Polish carriers will listen and try to defend their interests in another way," the ambassador said.

As we reported earlier, the State Border Guard Service reminds that starting tomorrow, Polish carriers intend to block the movement of freight transport across the border with Ukraine.
