There can be no business as usual.
As the biggest donor of the Palestinians, the European Commission is putting its full development portfolio under review, worth a total of EUR 691m
"The scale of terror and brutality against Israel and its people is a turning point. It cannot be business as usual. As the largest donor to the Palestinians, the European Commission is reviewing its entire portfolio of development projects totaling €691 million," he wrote.
In addition, the European Commission is immediately suspending payments for ongoing projects in Palestine.
It is also reviewing all previous projects and analyzing the entire budget portfolio. New proposals for funding assistance to the Palestinians have been postponed until "further notice."
"The foundations of peace, tolerance and coexistence need to be addressed immediately. Incitement to hatred, violence and the glorification of terror has poisoned the minds of too many people. We need action, and we need it now," Varhelyi added.
