Poland has started extradition proceedings against Ukrainian citizens involved in organizing illegal migration to Europe, Rzeczpospolita reports.
According to information received from the Border Guard Service, Poland, in compliance with the agreement with Ukraine, has already deported citizens who participate in the illegal transportation of migrants to Europe.
According to the Polish Border Guard Service, between February 24 last year and August 31 this year, about 2.87 million Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 60 entered Poland, and almost 2.8 million Ukrainians left the country.
The press secretary of the Main Police Department said that in order to bring the evaders to justice on the territory of Ukraine, an international arrest warrant must be issued.
"If we detain such a foreigner, for example, for a simple roadside check, our KSIP system (National Police Information System - ed.) will show that he is a person prosecuted by the Ukrainian prosecutor's office, because Interpol data is available. We detain such a person and report it to the prosecutor's office. The Polish court will decide whether he will be extradited," the police said.
