Podolyak explained why it is impossible to hold elections in a time of war

Holding elections in Ukraine during the war is an impossible task for a number of reasons. In addition, the law prohibits such actions. This statement was made by Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, during his speech on the "Breakfast with 1+1" channel.

The advisor said: "First, we do have martial law. Secondly, we really have a million people who are involved in what is happening on the front line. It is almost impossible to organize elections there. The President is clear about this - if there are observers who can sit in the trenches."

Podolyak also pointed to the constant attacks from Russia, which adds to the difficulties of organizing elections. Another aspect is the difficulty of campaigning.

"How do we campaign? We have a mobilized army, not a contract army. People have the right to nominate their candidates, to conduct certain information response measures. How can we ensure these rights?" the advisor emphasized.

Podolyak also emphasized an important aspect - displaced persons: "It is not even seven million, as stated by international organizations, it is more than 14 million, if we take into account the internally displaced. How can we re-register the voter register in such a short time?"

And the last aspect is the financial side of the elections. The process of organizing and holding elections is associated with high costs, which should also be taken into account.

As we reported earlier, US Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican, who recently called on Ukraine to hold elections despite martial law, suggested that Western countries should provide financial support for these elections.
