It is impossible to hold presidential elections in Ukraine during the war. There is a public consensus on this issue. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office, in an interview with The Telegraph.
"Regarding the cadence of the President of Ukraine. Today, there is a consensus that it is impossible to ensure a truly transparent and competitive electoral process in a state of war. This is a public consensus. Security parameters, financial parameters, parameters of political competition - all of these cannot be resolved today," he said.
Podolyak does not rule out that the public opinion on the elections in Ukraine may change. Then this issue will be discussed.
"This does not mean that the consensus of society cannot change tomorrow. It can change, and then we will talk about it. But today, the President of Ukraine is an absolutely legitimate figure. Because the society considers him legitimate and legally he is legitimate," the advisor to the head of the OP emphasized.
