President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposes to equate corruption with treason during martial law. He expressed this idea in an interview with Natalia Moseychuk. Zelenskyy said he plans to submit a bill to the Verkhovna Rada in the near future.
The President emphasized that the fight against corruption requires systemic and fundamental solutions. Therefore, he proposed to develop a law that would operate during martial law and equate corruption with treason.
"I understand that such a weapon cannot be used in society all the time. But in wartime, I think it will help," the head of state emphasized.
Zelenskyy noted that such a tool could be effective during wartime and help strengthen the fight against corruption. At the same time, he emphasized that Ukrainian society is developing in a democratic direction, and it is important not to "overtighten the screws."
"I think this will be a very serious tool to prevent even thinking. That's all. But it's not an execution, it's not Stalinism. If there is evidence, the person should be behind bars... I think the parliament will get this in the next week. And then the game is on the side of the parliament," the president said.
