Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat clarified his earlier position on Ukraine's receipt of F-16 fighter jets. He emphasized that Ukraine needs these aircraft regardless of the time of delivery. During the national telethon, he clarified that he did not claim that the country would not receive the fighter jets by the end of this year.
Ihnat explained that his goal was not to spread negative information, but rather to emphasize the essential need for Ukraine to receive these military machines.
"I don't want to sow 'betrayal' among the population. I said that whenever we get them, we have no choice. I was asked, and America said that we would not get them by the end of the summer. I replied: Whenever we get them, we have no other choice. We need these weapons," the Air Force representative said.
The speaker emphasized that Ukraine is actively negotiating with its partners and is seeking to bring the supply of Western aviation closer.
"We are working in close consultation with our allies, Ukraine has wanted to get fighter jets since the beginning of the great war. The pilots will soon be trained, let's hope there will be no delay," Ihnat summarized.
