Air Force explains importance of strikes on Luhansk and Berdyansk airfields

The destruction of Russian airfields is important for Ukraine, as helicopters operating close to the front line are based there and can hit military equipment of the Defense Forces. This was reported by Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, on Radio Liberty.

Ihnat commented on the data from the StratCom and the General Staff about the Defense Forces' strike on the airfields of the Russian troops near occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk.

He noted that he does not have exact information about what exactly was wounded or destroyed at these airfields, but emphasized that the destruction of equipment such as Ka-52 and Mi-24 helicopters is of great importance to Ukraine.

He explained that these helicopters, along with tactical aircraft, are constantly operating at the front and on the front line.

Ihnat noted that the enemy is trying to keep helicopters as close to the front line as possible, which has already been recorded in Chornobaivka.

In particular, Luhansk and Berdyansk are located close to the front line, and this is of great importance, as the occupiers have more modern helicopter equipment and long-range anti-tank guided missiles. Helicopters operate extremely close to the front, and therefore, their defeat is an important aspect for Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported that the Ukrainian military conducted night strikes on enemy-controlled airfields in the temporarily occupied Luhansk and the city of Berdyansk in Zaporizhzhia region. This information came from the StratCom Telegram channel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
