Ukraine will not be able to receive F-16 fighters from its allies by the end of the year. In this regard, the country needs to intensify measures to strengthen its air defense. This was announced during a telethon by Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


"It is already obvious that we will not be able to defend Ukraine with F-16s this autumn and winter," Ihnat emphasized.


He noted on air that the expectations related to the racquisition of F-16 fighters did not come true, and Ukraine will not be able to provide itself with this equipment this autumn and winter. Ihnat's words emphasize the importance of strengthening air defense at this time.


According to Ihnat, there were high hopes for the F-16 as an important part of the air defense. It was expected to help defend against the missile threat from Russia.


"But, as it was, the issue has moved on. We understand that our pilots will be training in the near future. But at the same time, we need to strengthen our air defense," the Air Force spokesman added.
