Russia started producing UAVs based on Iranian models

A statement from the UK Ministry of Defense suggests that Russia has begun the process of deploying its Unmanned One-Way Attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (OWA-UAV), based on Iranian Shahed models.

"Domestic production is likely to allow Russia to establish more reliable supplies of OWA-UAVs. The effectiveness of these weapons has varied, and Ukraine has proven effective in neutralizing most incoming OWA-UAVs," the post on Twitter reads.

It is important to note that Russian troops began deploying Iranian-made systems in September 2022. Russia is expected to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of unmanned vehicles in the coming months. However, for now, the country is still dependent on components and weapons supplied by Iran, the main route of which is transportation through the Caspian Sea.
