Dnipro signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to receive 25 million euros. The tranche is provided to support critical infrastructure.
This was reported by the mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov.
According to Filatov, when on almost the 500th day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, such a financial institution decides to enter into an agreement for considerable credit funds with the front-line Dnipro, this shows the world's unconditional support and faith in Ukrainian victory.
"Life goes on. We continue to work - despite the war. This is a very significant event. Because when the European Bank provides such significant credit funds to a territorial community, it is an assessment of our activities," he said.
In total, over five years, almost 200 municipal institutions of the city were involved in two stages of this project. Energy-saving renovations make it possible to save more than 30% of energy resources.
In addition, cooperation with the EBRD made it easier for the city to update the trolleybus fleet - 45 new cars were purchased, as well as equipment and spare parts for them.
"Thank you that today we have the opportunity to gather and sign such an important agreement for the city of Dnipro. It is very important for us to support your city in such a difficult time as it is for Ukraine today. We admire the courage of your country and the work you are doing today in the city," the EBRD noted.
Loan funds will go to support critical infrastructure enterprises and the work of their employees, which ensure the provision of communal services to the people of Dnipro. This will also allow faster recovery after the consequences of blackouts, when, in particular, electric transport could not work due to the lack of electricity.
