A full-scale invasion by Russia has led to the fact that a quarter of citizens were forced to leave their homes, according to a statement from the British Ministry of Defense.
As noted in the summary, on June 29, the authorities of Ukraine reported that, in accordance with the state of emergency legislation, 139,000 citizens have been evacuated from combat zones in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions since July 2022.
British intelligence says that "this is only part of a wider displacement crisis in Ukraine." According to UN estimates, 6.3 million Ukrainians remain refugees and more than 5 million internally displaced persons.
"With a pre-war population of 44 million people, a quarter of Ukrainians are still forced to leave their homes as a result of the Russian invasion," the British Ministry of Defense notes.
