Currently, there is no question of Ukraine's membership in NATO. This issue will be resolved after the end of the war.
This was stated by the British Defense Minister Ben Wallace during a press conference with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius in Berlin.
"Ukraine's membership in NATO is currently out of the question. Ukraine is in the midst of a war," Wallace said.
At the same time, the minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and the ability to deter Russia today and after the end of the war.
As Wallace noted, the political decision regarding Ukraine's accession to NATO will be adopted by all Alliance members already after the end of the war. Britain, for its part, is in favor of providing Kyiv with a road map.
In particular, he emphasized that London and Berlin are leaders on the continent in terms of supporting Ukraine. According to him, the weapons provided by the countries play an important role on the battlefield and helped stop the Russian offensive.
"Great Britain and Germany are sending a signal to Russia about the inadmissibility of aggression, that it cannot win this war, that it should leave Ukraine alone," added Wallace.
