Ukraine can join NATO and the EU even without completing reforms - if these alliances decide - Dmytro Kuleba

Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU requires a joint decision of these structures. And the country can finish the reforms already after joining the alliances, guaranteeing their completion. This is the opinion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which he expressed today during the forum Re: Open Zakarpattia.

"Reforms are very important, this is unequivocal, no one argues with this. Fighting corruption - everything is right. But you don't have to bear all the sadness of the reforms. If there is a political decision in the European Union and NATO: "We take it," then, first of all, it will be much easier for us to make reforms, and, secondly, we will be accepted even with some incomplete reforms under guarantees and promises that they will be completed after the membership," said Dmytro Kuleba.

The head of the Foreign Ministry also called "to be realistic and not to put ourselves in a constant circle of humiliation, saying that everything is our fault.

"It's not like that, it's much more complicated. You have to work with partners, you have to change the country, you have to do everything within the country to make it stronger. But one cannot join the EU or NATO unless there is a consolidated position there: 'We take it,'" the minister said.

For Ukraine to become a member of NATO and the EU, there must be a concrete and clear road map provided by these blocs, as Dmytro Kuleba insisted at the forum.
