The US Treasury Department on Wednesday announced another package of sanctions in connection with Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, which in total covers more than 80 individuals and legal entities.
This is stated in the message of the US Ministry of Finance.
Together with Great Britain, the United States is imposing sanctions against USM Holding, which is connected to the Russian oligarch and one of the richest men in Russia, Alisher Usmanov, against whom restrictions were imposed back in March 2022.
"Usmanov has at his disposal a wide network of enterprises in financial havens and family members through which he carries out financial transactions, which allows him to potentially circumvent sanctions," - according to the US Treasury Department.
US authorities say Usmanov controls and owns most of his companies through USM Holding. Sanctions also apply to more than two dozen legal entities associated with the holding, based in Russia, Uzbekistan, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
At the same time, by a separate decision, the US Ministry of Finance allowed separate operations related to the activities of the publishing house "Komersant", the communication operator "Megafon" and the holding company "Metaloinvest".
Separately, the US State Department added to the sanctions list 27 individuals and legal entities that work in the defense sector of the Russian economy and support Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as additional companies related to the state corporation "Rosatom".
The latter case refers to sanctions against Rosatom-related structures, in particular, Kovriv Mechanical Plant, Rusatom Overseas (responsible for foreign projects) and Atombud (the main organization of Rosatom, which is responsible for materials science).
It is noted that the US Department of Commerce plans to introduce similar restrictions against Rosatom's structures.
The sanctions include freezing the assets of the mentioned persons in the USA and prohibiting American citizens and companies from doing business with them.
