Prime Minister of Finland in Kyiv: Russia must answer for its crimes

The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, said that Russia should be held responsible for the attack on Ukraine and the crimes committed during the war, as well as pay compensation for the damage caused.

As she said about it at a joint briefing with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kyiv.

"We believe that the time will come when Russia will be responsible for its crimes, and Putin will be personally responsible for the crime of aggression," Sanna Marin said.

She reminded that Finland, together with other countries, is working to ensure such responsibility.

"Finland is among the group of countries that want to ensure responsibility for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. We support the investigation by the International Criminal Court and the Ukrainian authorities, and we support the creation of the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression. We are also for Russia to pay the full price for the aggression , for the ruins and losses that Ukraine suffered due to this influx. We are in favor of freezing and confiscating Russian assets and allowing them to be used for the restoration and revival of Ukraine," said the Prime Minister.

Sanna Marin noted that Finland understands from its own experience of defending independence that now the free world should support Ukraine as much as it needs.

"We want Ukraine to receive peace on its own terms and when it is ready to establish this peace. We support President Zelenskyi's "peace formula" and want this plan to start working. Only a lasting peace can give our European family peace and well-being." , - Sanna Marin stated.

The Prime Minister added that Ukraine can count on the support of Helsinki on the way to the reforms that will need to be implemented for the future accession to the EU.
