Ukraine would like to receive strategic security guarantees during the war, even if the country is not admitted to NATO yet.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin.
"As for the NATO summit in Vilnius, we are invited, but we would like to see some appropriate steps forward, apart from the status we have today in our relations with NATO. Of course, we thank all the NATO countries that support us on battlefield, in addition, we need strategic security guarantees," he said.
According to the president, Ukraine expects to receive guarantees at the NATO summit in Vilnius.
"On this path, we need security guarantees, even if we cannot be in NATO during the war, we would like to have appropriate security guarantees while we are not yet in NATO. We expect appropriate steps at the meeting on the part of NATO countries towards Ukraine summit in Vilnius," Zelenskyi emphasized.
