The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, had a telephone conversation with Jake Sullivan, the US president's national security advisor.
This is reported by the VP.
According to the report, "Yermak informed the interlocutor about the current situation at the front and the decisions made by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the military leadership about the progress of the defense operation in the Bakhmut direction."
Separately, the parties discussed current international efforts to provide defense and financial support to Ukraine, which is fighting for the liberation of its territories from Russian occupation, the VP noted.
Yermak also talked about the crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainians, including the kidnapping, deportation and forced adoption of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories. He emphasized that those guilty of these crimes against the Ukrainian people should receive a fair punishment according to the law.
In addition, the head of the President's Office informed about the large-scale damage to the environment in Ukraine caused by Russian aggression. He emphasized that its consequences will affect the ecosystem of the whole of Europe. According to Yermak, the world should make maximum efforts to stop the destructive impact of aggression on the environment and bring Russia to justice, as provided for in the peace formula, the report said.
We will remind, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an interview with CNN that Bakhmut should not be surrounded. According to him, the defense of the city allows the Ukrainian army to prepare a counteroffensive in parallel.
