Agreement on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia is almost reached

The countries of the European Union have almost reached an agreement on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, which the bloc wanted to apply to the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24. This was reported by Radio Svoboda journalist Rikard Jozvyak on Twitter.

"The EU ambassadors interrupted the meeting. There is still no agreement on sanctions against Russia, but it is almost reached. Negotiations between several countries on the final details, and then the start of the written procedure," Jozviak wrote.

The EU failed to agree on a long-awaited package of sanctions against Russia on February 23, the media reported, leaving the bloc scrambling to reach a deal on Friday to mark the first anniversary of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Diplomats say agreement has been reached on almost all of the 10th package of sanctions, but Poland has objected to restrictions on synthetic rubber imports, which it considers weak.
